Just as every case is unique, every client is unique. I adapt the services I provide with respect to attorney preferences and whatever the specific case requires. When attorneys refer their clients to me, they remove all doubt that they’ve done all they can to achieve the best possible outcome for their clients.
Defense attorneys can be at a disadvantage as the criminal justice system is set up. By offering an independent second opinion, the standards are raised for each professional involved in the criminal justice system. I believe this creates better, smarter sentences. It also makes clients feel a renewed sense of dignity and fairness.
Services provided include, but are not limited to:
• Thoroughly researched written memorandums for the court, including pre-plea, sentencing, probation violation reports
• Assistance with every type of case: state and federal, juvenile and adult
• Provide clients and their families with information related to treatment and other community resources to further improve their amenability to probation
• Support and encourage clients, reducing the burden on attorneys and freeing you up to do the work requiring a law degree.
I am fortunate to work for defense attorneys who know which clients and cases deserve a closer look. If you have such a client, please call me at (651) 231-5356 or email me at amy@amybbutler.com
Attorney Testimonials:
“Amy has the ability to get the ‘whole story’ across when writing a sentencing memo or alternate PSI. She makes her clients comfortable and at ease. Time and time again, I believe that Amy’s report was the difference between prison and probation for my clients. She always has good ideas regarding finding the best programming for our clients to suit their individual and unique needs. While working with Amy for a number of years, I found her to be ethical, assertive, and effective.”
– Lis Carlson, Associate Attorney at Caplan & Tamburino Law Firm, P.A.
“Amy provides insight into more than just what the client’s path has been. She helps identify where interventions could have righted a wrong situation before it happened, and helps provide guidance on true rehabilitation.”
– Caroline Durham, Certified Criminal Law Specialist/Criminal Defense Attorney
“Amy has been instrumental in changing my clients’ lives. In many cases, convincing a judge to depart can be seemingly impossible. Amy is masterful at creating in-depth, insightful, and meaningful dispositional reports. She helps judges understand that our clients are real people with unbelievably difficult struggles who often deserve leniency and a second chance. The challenge is getting the court to see the ‘big picture’ and consider facts the prosecution does not always want discussed. This is why I turn to Amy. She is punctual, consistently delivers excellent work, and genuinely cares for the clients we share. I recommend her services without hesitation.”
– Christopher W. Keyser, Certified Criminal Law Specialist/Criminal Defense Lawyer
“Amy is a wonderfully empathic human being, which makes her such a great mitigation consultant, not to mention a really great person to work with. I have hired her on several cases and referred her to others. What I love about Amy is that she doesn’t judge at all in any moral sense.. she observes, and absorbs and then comes out with the most devastating and on-the-money assessment for criminal purposes. What has struck me in our encounters with her is how kind she is. She genuinely tries to get where your client is at and give him/her the benefit of the doubt. But she doesn’t sugar-coat. It’s what makes her so effective and so trustworthy.”
– JaneAnne Murray, U of MN Law Professor and Criminal Defense Attorney
