Why should I hire you? If you are considering hiring me, someone’s freedom or future is on the line. Frankly, this is serious and not something to mess around with.
While it is true that I cannot change the facts of a case or your history, I can tell your story the way it should be told. I can give your family and friends a voice in the legal process. I can let the judge know there is more to you than the offense you are charged with.
I have been honing my mitigation skills for nearly 15 years. My former client outcomes (please see testimonials on “For Clients” page) strongly suggest that judges covet quality information about the people standing before them. Certain judges even go out of their way to request the work of a dispositional advisor or mitigation specialist!
Please keep in mind that judges can only consider whatever information they are given. By hiring me, you put additional information and a well-researched alternative plan into the judge’s capable hands. This has made all the difference for many clients.
Being charged with a criminal offense is a scary and life-altering event. One client recently shared, “With all of the ‘unknowns’ at this time, you have provided us with some hope and a sense of calm.” Sometimes, the sense of dignity and respect felt during interactions with me means almost as much to my clients as the outcome.. almost.
Obviously, the decision to hire another professional to work on your case is a personal one. However, please know I pride myself on doing everything I can to tell the client’s whole story- because it matters (to me and to the judge).
Where are you located? I am based in the Twin Cities metro area. However, because so much of my work can effectively be completed remotely, I am able to cover cases throughout Minnesota (and other states, as well). I also try to be “user-friendly” and will do my best to come to you!
Cost of services? My work is extremely individualized and the costs associated with my services vary depending on the needs of the client, the specifics of the case, and attorney preferences. Billing options include an hourly fee, flat rate, or monthly contract. I prefer to be paid directly by attorneys, but will accept payments from clients directly, if necessary. I will also consider making a payment plan, on a case-by-case basis.
How can I make a payment? There are a few payment options.
You can pay online using Paypal:
I can also accept credit or debit card payments over the phone.
Alternatively, checks can be mailed to:
P.O. Box 857
Wayzata, MN
55391 USA
Will you work on every case? My credibility is very important to me. I will consider every request objectively, but may be limited in the ways I am able to help depending on case specifics, attitude of client, etc.
To start the process, attorneys should call me at (651) 231-5356 or email me at amy@amybbutler.com for a free case consultation. If I accept your case, a signed contract and retainer fee is required prior to any work being completed on your case. Please note that written reports will not be released until my fees are paid in full.
Finally, what’s up with the bees? Are you wondering what the deal is with the bee? I’ll tell you. The simple answer is my nickname, for as long as I can remember, has been “Amybee” or “Amybumblebee.” By turning my initials into a bee logo (thanks, Emily Bremner Forbes), I am bee-ing me.
But there is more to it. Have you ever thought about how amazing bees are? They do what is supposed to be impossible for them (fly) and are diligent, hard workers who make the world a better place. They are also in jeopardy.
There is a photo making its way around the internet that illustrates how empty our grocery store shelves would be if there were no more bees. It isn’t pretty. I see a similarity with my work. When we incarcerate people who have value to society, especially at the rate we currently do, we miss out on all of their positive contributions. With some assistance, the bees are doing better. I believe that with a little assistance, most of my clients can also do better.
