The majority of my cases as a Mitigation Specialist/Dispositional Advisor have involved alcohol and/or drugs in one way or another. A few years ago, after a particularly difficult case, I decided I wanted to do more than just write about the problem.

After the completion of 18 educational credits (or 270 clock hours) specific to alcohol and drug counseling, 880 hours of a drug and alcohol counseling practicum (at Vinland National Center, providing treatment for adults with cognitive impairments & brain injury), and a passing score on the IC&RC comprehensive exam… the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy granted my license (#305805) to practice alcohol and drug counseling on September 4, 2020.

My goal has always been to provide the court with accurate information while also providing clients with an empathetic ear, assistance locating community resources, and the encouragement necessary to motivate clients to change their lives for the better. This new credential strenthens my ability to do this.
